QuiBids 101

How does QuiBids work?

QuiBids is not your basic online auction model. We proudly developed a unique, exciting way to rejuvenate a century-old traditional auction in the digital era. We do understand that the similarities can create a bit of confusion, and we don’t want that to obscure how we do business. So we’ve decided to explain just how things work around here.

Getting started

Before you start bidding, you have to register an account with us. On the home page simply select the “Register” tab on the main tool bar, or click on the Orange Button that reads “Register Now” along the banner. Once you’re done registering, a confirmation email will be sent to the address you provided. If you don’t immediately receive this email from QuiBids, then check your Spam folder to ensure that it wasn’t mistakenly identified or blocked.

We recommend you add us to your safe senders list in order to avoid future confusion. Once you’ve confirmed your account, you’re free to buy bids and participate in auctions!

Buying bids

Who loves options? Everybody. Well, you’ve got two when it comes to buying bids. You may (A) purchase bids immediately after registration, or (B) select the “Buy Bids” tab on the main menu at a later time. Your first bid pack buy is a set price, but after your initial bid pack purchase, there’ll be five different bid packs to choose from, each a different size. We recommend what most users start off with: a Beginner Bid Pack for testing out the auction waters. Once you’ve selected the proper-sized bid pack, simply add your credit card and billing information. From here, you’re almost ready to join your first auction!

Remember, when purchasing bids, you are really buying the right to place bids and that each bid is worth $0.60. Purchasing bids doesn’t guarantee that you’ll win, but the “Buy Now” feature is always at your disposal (we’ll discuss that in a bit), and it’s basically like spending money toward the desired product.

Learning how to participate in an auction

Congratulations on making it this far! Now you’ll see bids as they appear in the upper-right corner of your screen. This number will update every time you bid on our site.

Before you start bidding, we strongly recommend you watch a few auctions and – in so doing – take some time to familiarize yourself with the pace and the dynamics of an auction. On the home page you’ll see a section labeled ‘Live Auctions’ that displays the auctions that are currently running.

The timer

The timer counts down consecutively until it gets below 20 seconds. From that point on, the timer will reset to 0:20 seconds every time a bid is placed, thereby giving other users the chance to bid again.

If the auction persists after a certain number of bids (it’s not uniform from auction to auction), the timer will begin resetting at 0:15 seconds after each bid. Finally, if we feel the auction has gone on too long, the timer will reset to 0:10 seconds each time a bid’s placed. When the time expires, the auction ends and the last person to bid wins the right to purchase the item for the final price.

Bidding

So earlier we established that options are good, right? When it comes to bidding, you’ve got two. (A) Simply select the bid button. Your bid will be recorded and your name will show up as the highest bidder. Each time you’re outbid by another user, you’ll need to manually click the bid button again if you wish to guarantee that you’ll win the item.

Option (B) is the Bid-O-Matic, which does your clicking for you! This feature is designed for you to go hands-free, or even Internet-free, as Bid-O-Matic will automatically place bids from your account, per your direction. Simply instruct it how many bids you’re willing to give up, and the price you want to start bidding at!

I just won my 12th item in a 28 day period, do I have to wait 28 days from today before I can bid again?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

Great Question! 28 days (to the minute) from the time that you won your first auction, that auction limit 'slot' will open for you to begin bidding again...Likewise, the second 'slot' with open 28 days from the time that the second auction was won, and so on and so forth.

If an items auction ends at $11.98 and there were 29 bids placed toward that item from various bidders, If I won that auction, am I paying the $11.98 plus $17.40 (.60 x 29 bids) plus any shipping costs or do I only pay the final auction price of $11.98 plus shipping plus any upfront costs paid for MY bids?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

At checkout, you would then pay the final price of $11.98, plus shipping. You can take into consideration only the number of bids that YOU placed toward that auction, which were pre-paid and in your account to begin with. So if you had 5 bids in that auction, there were another $3. In the end, you would have spent $14.98, plus shipping for the item.

How many 0:10 seconds? You never know which 0:10 is the last. It blinks and blinks for many many 0:10 seconds. What is the rule for the last 0:10 seconds? It must be made clear.

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

The 'blinking' you are seeing are bids people are placing at that same time. There could be multiple people doing this, again, at the same time. It happens on every auction, but eventually filters down to the last couple of seconds.

Not sure this question has been asked, but if an item that I have won on Quibids has a defect or problem (like a camera or electronic device), what is the return/repair process? Is this handled through Quibids?

kmcmullen@QuiBids Says:

If/when that happens, please contact us at support@quibids.com and we will work with you to quickly resolve the situation. Please have available the auction ID, username, and the serial number of the product, as these will help us resolve your problem more quickly.

Can I see how long a bid has been going on for (including clock resets) to gauge competition? How can I understand how many bidders are watching and have bid on an item?

eklyons@QuiBids Says:

The bidding history area to the right of the item's live auction page, lets you see how many are participating. There is not a section showing the full history of that auction.

synayman Says:

For a sought after item, your system shows that one "recently sold for $XX". under the item's picture. Can I see when that auction was won?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

Yes, just click on that sold product image and it'll take you to that auction's page with the details/time.

Will everyone bidding on the item get a chance to buy now? Or does that apply to the top bidder.

kmcmullen@QuiBids Says:

Everyone gets the chance to apply their Purchased Bids toward the Value Price of the item!

While using BidoMatic can you run out of bids? Can Bid o Matic buy more bids for you if you need them?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

Yes, you can run out of bids. After that point, you can then start a new BOM. If you are out of bids completely, then you would need to purchase another bid pack if you choose to stay participating in the auction(s). BOM cannot buy more bid packs for you.

If I lost a bid on an item, but did not exercise the buy now option. when the same item comes up again and i bid on it again and lost the bid again, but this time i use the buy now option, did i get the credit form the bids i placed on both time, or on the second time only?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

This is a great question, but it is only the bids that are placed in that auction that can be used toward the Buy Now. Bids from other auctions do not roll over.

This Q&A is by far one of the best features on a site I have ever seen. You guys are quick to respond to each question in a very personal and informative manner. I do have a couple questions tho. First - In your above calculations, you generate a total "cost" of the item you are bidding on. Say I spend 5 bids ($3) on a item that ends with a final price of $5. You say my final price would be $8 plus S+H. Is the $3 worth of bids $3 that I have already spent? Basically, when I go to checkout, will I only have to pay $5 plus S+H, as I have already spent the $3?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

That is correct. Thanks!

Can a person just come on and browse and watch the auctions? Or must they register and purchase bids first?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

Browsing and registering are both free. You are only charged when you decide to purchase a bid pack, which you must do in order to participate in the auctions.

I just won a bid at $0.14 but it charged me transaction costs of $2. Is it always like this? Will there always be transaction fee for every winning bid?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

The $2 fee for voucher bids is a transaction fee which helps to cover the cost of system processing. This fee will always be shown under the Payment Information of every Voucher Bid auction.

In the auctions the gift cards you auction off are really just a form of cash. I went to Canadian Tire and asked them about purchasing a gift card and found out you can not charge provincial or federal tax on gift cards because you are taxing cash not an item. I would check the taxation laws if i were you.

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

That is a very good point. However, we are not taxing the gift card we are taxing the shipping on the card.

Can you keep bidding after you have already spent more then the retail value in bids

eklyons@QuiBids Says:

QuiBids will never let you go over the retail value of an item when using real purchased bids. However, if you are using Voucher bids, or free bids, you will not be stopped from bidding over value as free and voucher bids have no monetary value.

25

Cap0180 Says:

Monday October 10, 2011

If I did not win what happens to my bids ?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

If you do not win an auction then you can always utilize our Buy Now feature and we will deduct the monetary value of the bids that you placed in the auction from the retail value price of the item.

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

You can participate in 5 auctions at the same time. However, please also note that win limits may apply as soon as you win an item. Therefore, if you reach your win limits while bidding in other auctions, you will not be able to participate any further, and will not be re-credited the bids you have already placed in other auctions.

When you click that link you will see a box on the upper left hand side of the screen and you can choose if you would like to use voucher or real bids first.

if i have 10 voucher bids and use them on an item valued at $100 and do not win the item i then have 2 hours to BuyNow? If yes, then what will i be paying for this $100 item?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

Voucher bids cannot be used in the Buy Now feature. If you used 10 voucher bids in this auction and lost you would have to pay the full retail value for this item.

31

whats the total amount of money i can bid on one item per bid. For example if i was in a single bid auction and everyone was biding 1cent at a time and i decided to bid 2cents or maybe even 3cents. Does that still count as 1 bid?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

You can only bid one cent at a time. One bid = one cent. The auction can only go up by one cent increments.

When I first purchase the 100 bid package, seeing as I'm a beginner, do those bids count as real bids? Or voucher bids? What's the difference? And if I win an auction of voucher bids, can I use those to bid instead of real bids?

katiehern@QuiBids Says:

All bids that you pay for in the bid store are real bids. The difference between real bids and voucher bids is that voucher bids can not be applied to the Buy Now price. If you win a voucher bid auction you can choose to use those bids in auctions.

If I understand correctly, the limits within 28 days applies to big ticket items that are priced $285 and $999.99, I have a question about this. Let say I won an item value price of $299.99 will this item prevent me from bidding on another item that exceeds the $999.99 limit within the same 28 days? If yes, then the way I understand it is the customer must decide on which big ticket item is more important to them during the current 28 days, correct? Or is it that a customer could win the over $999.99 first then a item at $285 up to $999 second which would pass the limitation restriction?

sabsher117@QuiBids Says:

Users are allowed to win only one of the same item over $285.00. In addition to this limit, we also allow only one win of any item over $999.99. For example, if you win a PlayStation 3, you will be locked out of all future PlayStation 3 auctions for the following 28 days, but it will not exclude you from an auction of a $999.99 item.

Is this just normal procedure for it to charge $60 right as soon as you get on the page and register??? HELP
