Bidding

How does bidding work?

You have two options when it comes to bidding. The first is to simply click the 'Bid' button. Assuming there is no technical malfunction, your bid will be recorded and your username will be shown as the highest bidder.  To maintain the highest bid, you will need to keep clicking the ‘Bid’ button whenever another user outbids you.

The second option is to use the Bid-O-Matic feature. We developed Bid-O-Matic to enable you to participate in an auction while you are away from the computer. Bid-O-Matic will enter bids for you based on limits that you set— how many bids you’re willing to spend and when to start placing them.

How to Buy Bids

After registering, you can click "Buy Bids" in the top menu. A bid is $0.40, and comes in Bid Packs. Select the Bid Pack that's right for you and follow the on-screen instructions to finalize your purchase. QuiBids accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and PayPal.

Now you're ready to start bidding in our many auctions!

What are Real Bids?

Real Bids are bids purchased in Bid Packs from the Buy Bids page or from the Quick Buy feature in the QBar. These bids can be used toward the Buy Now option, and are eligible for a refund as long as they haven't been used in an auction.

What are Voucher Bids?

Voucher Bids are bids that are won or acquired through Voucher Bid auctions. Voucher Bids can also be credited in other ways, such as after claiming badges, referring friends, or other promotions and special circumstances. These bids cannot be used toward the Buy Now option, nor are they eligible for a refund. Voucher Bids will not count toward your 28-day win limit. A user may only win one 250 Voucher Bid auction and two 100 Voucher Bid auctions every 24 hours. Additionally, a user may only win one 500 Voucher Bid auction and one 1000 Voucher Bid auction every 7 days.

Voucher Bids do expire. Each type of Voucher Bid has a different expiration date. Go to My QuiBids and click on Bid Credit History. You will find information such as the date and time the bids went into your account, a description, an expiration date, bid type, and the number of bids. The bids are denoted by two numbers (xx/xxx). The first number is the number of bids you have left, and the last number is the number of bids you originally purchased.

Do my Real Bids expire?

Yes, Real Bids expire in 3 years. After the first year, the bids will become Voucher bids and lose their ability to be applied toward our Buy Now option. To see when your bids expire, go to My QuiBids and click on Bid Credit History. You will find information such as the date and time the bids were put into your account, an expiration date, bid type, and the number of bids credited.

Where can I see my bidding history?

Click on My QuiBids and then go to Bidding History. This area will display information on recent auctions you have placed bids in.

Can I select which bid type to use during an auction?

Yes, on the QBar in the "My Bids" section you can select which type of bids that you want to use first in an auction. Real bids will be the default bid type used if you have both types of bids available in your account.

What are those icons that appear on my auction?

You might have noticed icons that appear on our auction pages. They’re there to indicate one or more of the auction’s special features. These icons can also be found by hovering your cursor over the title of an auction.

For information on each icon and what it means, hover your cursor over the icon and a brief explanation of that particular auction feature will appear.

I've placed a bid but I'm not currently the highest bidder, why?

QuiBids' servers order the bids based on the exact time they were clicked. There may have been other users who placed a bid immediately after you.

Where can I see how many bids I have spent in an auction?

You can view your Bids Credit under the value price that’s listed on the auction page. Your Bids Credit indicates the amount of money that would be discounted from the value price if you choose to Buy Now. Beneath that, you can see how many Real Bids and Voucher Bids you placed in that specific auction. Voucher Bids are not factored into your Bids Credit because they do not apply toward the Buy Now.

How do I track auctions that I'm participating in?

On the My QuiBids main page, you will see a section that displays all the auctions you've recently participated in.

Can I bid on a future auction?

You can bid on any auction with 5 minutes or less time remaining.

Can I bid in auctions that don’t allow the Bid-O-Matic feature?

Really like the Bid-O-Matic feature? Or maybe you’re not a big fan? It’s fine either way because you can narrow your searches to show auctions that don't allow the Bid-O-Matic feature.

Simply use the Filter By option on the home page and select "No Bid-O-Matic" to indicate that you only want to bid in auctions without the Bid-O-Matic feature!
